First time back in she just asked a lot of questions about us, family support, health, money situation. Then how I planned to feed baby. Gave us a quiz on safe sleeping. Told us where clinics and groups were. Then she announced how she has a right to inspect our home as it's been unearthed in our area that people were locking kids in rooms, she claimed she would even check our fridge if she felt the need to ensure there was enough for baby..

So i said well look now if you want but nothing is sorted. So she looked round telling me i need to move furniture as she wasnt happy i had enough of a walkway from my side of bedroom. Every visit once DD was here she never left the living room. So because of her initial meeting i just didnt like her. But that's just my experience i know this will vary greatly. Sorry didn't mean to offend.

The ones I've come across sadly most certainly have not been. One of my good friends is a HV and agrees with my view on the ones in our local area who are obnoxious, unhelpful and push their own agendas which go against NHS guidelines.

I agree they are needed for child protection but I do think more regular training on upto date medical knowledge which should be followed is needed. This allows you to try out some of the activities covered by the questionnaire with your baby at home, where they are comfortable and in familiar surroundings. Your baby will usually have reviews at the ages we talk about on this page. If you have any concerns at other times, you can contact a health visitor or GP, or go to your local baby clinic.

Your baby will be weighed at birth and again during their first week. They will also have a thorough physical examination within 72 hours of being born. A health professional will usually check your baby's eyes, heart, hips and — for baby boys — testicles. Read more about the newborn physical examination. At 5 and 8 days old your baby will have a blood spot heel prick test that screens for several rare diseases, including cystic fibrosis and sickle cell disease. This is usually done by the midwife.

Find out more about the newborn blood spot heel prick test. Your baby will also have a hearing test soon after birth. If you have your baby in hospital, this may happen before you leave. Otherwise, it will be done some time in the first few weeks in your home, at an outpatient clinic, or at your local health centre. Find out more about the newborn hearing test.

A midwife and health visitor will also support you with breastfeeding, caring for your new baby, adjusting to life as a new parent.

Your baby's eyes, heart, hips and — for boys — testicles will be checked. They'll also have their weight, length and head circumference measured. A GP or health visitor will discuss your baby's vaccinations with you. These are offered at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks and 12 months old, and before your child starts school. In addition, the first visit is invaluable for developing close links between health visitors and community midwives. A recent example of this was when I visited an expectant mum whose baby was small for her dates and there were suspected health problems.

This gave me the opportunity to contact mum early to congratulate her and arrange the second key visit at days. I had pregnancy fears but also felt very hormonal with regards to family life and the prospect of a new baby in the home. When Diane came to see me…the meeting was fantastic as Diane picked up on me feeling low and prompted me to speak about how I was feeling.

This in itself was wonderful as I opened up and confided in her. In return, Diane gave me postive advice and also gave me stress relief exercises. The meeting came at the right time and helped me in so many ways. Contact us Search. About us Log in Covid Toggle navigation.

Sean had has a notoriously weak bladder and on the way up to Manchester, after a couple of cans of cola, his toilet needs caused the coach to stop just 15 minutes into the journey. Anyway me and Sean, who would have been 12 at the time, were down the front of the stand and not long after Rapid scored he starts moaning again about needing to go to the toilet. So he manages to grab the attention of a trackside policeman. About five minutes later I see him sprinting along the touchline back to the gate and the copper lets him back in.

He had been sent to a copper in front of the dugout area and allowed to use toilets in the tunnel area where he had walked right past Davie Hay and the Celtic subs. He insists to this day that the Rapid bench thought he was a hooligan and tried to get him arrested. I was pretty jealous of Sean getting so close to the action and at the Scottish Cup final later that season I tried the same tactic. I had this vision of me waving at Davie Hay and the Bhoys as I jogged past the dugout on my way to the Hampden loo.

What do you remember about the attack on the goalkeeper? I think he came on from the section of the Stretford End close to the main stand side corner flag. There was this initial roar as he got to the keeper and I remember the shoving and swaying as those around us jostled for a view of the incident. The Celtic fan seemed to swing his legs at the keeper — who was holding him off at arms length. Two policeman then got there and they were joined by a third a few seconds later.

They were in the back of the goals, the nets were pretty shallow, trying to pull this idiot off the keeper. The three coppers — wearing these big long black coats and your traditional bobbies helmet — then dragged the guy away. In reality it was probably seconds. My Dad was a few rows back from us and up to that point had been happy for us to be within viewing distance of him but after the attack on the keeper he came down and took us to the back of the terracing, close to the exit.

I guess he feared what might happen next and if there was to be serious trouble the last place you wanted to be was down the front and against the fence. What do you remember about the rest of the match? The result was now a total irrelevance. Thanks to the action of that nutter there was no way we would be in the next round — irrespective of the score.

The Celtic players knew this and the game petered out. In fairness though even before the attack on the keeper we never did look like scoring and Rapid were comfortable winners. Us younger ones were still caught up in the drama of the attack. The implications of what had happened went over our heads. We just joked about kicking the cheats in the balls. My dad was talking to a couple of old boys at the back of the stand and they were all disgusted.

They seemed pretty distraught by the whole thing, all three of them standing their shaking their heads. Unlike me they knew the harm this had done to Celtic. What do you remember about that incident? As soon as the final whistle had went we headed out of the ground. Nobody on the coach could be bothered with the radio so the first we knew of the attack in the tunnel was the following morning. If I remember rightly both of those arrested for the attacks were English — or at least were living in England.

What was the journey home like? The only noteworthy incident was an attack on this Ice Cream Van outside the ground. There was an argument between the guy in the van and someone accusing him of short-changing him. The next thing there is about 10 people around the van, rocking it violently. The guy inside is being thrown all over the place and he tries to stop the rocking by throwing out ice lollies and cans of pop.

It was a crazy scene. The coach journey was very quiet thanks to a mixture of post-booze fatigue and the events of the night. There was no radio, no singing, nothing. There were a couple of stragglers who almost missed the bus but we came across them by accident at a set of traffic lights. Once everyone was on board they just seemed to get their heads down. It was all pretty sombre. I think by then even I had realised that this was a very bad night for Celtic.

What are your feelings when you look back on that night now? I think it was a very sad moment in our history. The behind closed doors game seemed quite light all things considered although I guess you have to balance that with the fact that at that time trouble on a much larger scale was all too common on the terraces.

Depending on your witness, this landed either five feet or 20 metres away from Rapid's goalkeeper, Herbert Feurer, who promptly collapsed in a heap, left the field bandaged up and led those within the Austrian camp to seek, unsuccessfully, the abandonment of the game. Ten minutes of stoppage time were required following this unseemly scene. It later transpired that the linesman on Celtic Park's former "Jungle" side had been struck by all kinds of missiles, mainly coins.

Somehow aware of this, Rapid adopted a tale that Feurer had merely been struck by an object, rather than the bottle, in lodging a formal complaint to Uefa. The rest is history: the match was ordered to be replayed at a neutral venue — Old Trafford, where a bigger crowd appeared than in Glasgow — and Rapid won In the midst of all this, the Austrian side's goalkeeper was attacked by a Celtic fan and another fan booted Peter Pacult in the privates.

Pacult, now Rapid's coach, fittingly scored the only goal in Manchester. The poor man cut a frustrated figure at his pre-match briefing last night, forced to answer question after question regarding the events of 25 years ago.

Celtic have seemingly backed down on their marketing stance in recent days. They had billed Rapid's visit, unapologetically, as "25 Years On" in an obvious attempt to sell tickets. Yet the club are perfectly aware that disorder, triggered by fans who still harbour a wild grudge, would be seriously bad for their reputation.

Celtic's chief executive, Peter Lawwell, has now issued what is tantamount to a plea for calm. Even Gordon Smith, the chief executive of the Scottish FA, got in on the act, saying: "I think we have to call for calm.

It's moved on 25 years, it's different people at the clubs, different players. It's not like it happened 18 months ago. There should be an element of friendship in the game regardless of what happened in the past, and hopefully both clubs will play this in normal circumstances and have a good match played in a sporting fashion.

It must be noted that tonight's game has hardly caught the imagination of punters; 40, are expected at Celtic Park, 20, less than capacity. Hopefully the lunatics do not take over. Rapid's followers, after all, did not have the look of shrinking violets at Aston Villa. World Cup Points Table. Michail Antonio gave West Ham a 22nd-minute lead in the Croatian capital when he rounded goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic and rolled the ball into an empty net after intercepting a poor back pass by Kevin Theophile-Catherine.

Declan Rice sealed the win with a fine individual effort in the 50th as he raced clear of his marker down the left from the halfway line and drilled the ball home through Livakovic's legs from eight metres. A bundled goal by Albian Ajeti and a Josip Juranovic penalty gave Celtic a lead at Betis inside the opening 27 minutes but their joy was short-lived as the home side were level eight minutes later through Juan Miranda and Juanmi.

Betis rocked the visitors with another two quickfire goals shortly after the break, nosing ahead through Borja Iglesias in the 50th minute before Juanmi netted his second two minutes later after a slick move. Anthony Ralston set up a tense finish when he pulled one back for Celtic in the 87th minute but Betis held on to come out on top in the seven-goal thriller.

In Cardiff, the women are, it seems, not generally trying to make an appearance or be a style guru when giving their PJs an outing - it's more a case of not being bothered after they have rolled out of bed. In contrast, in Cambodia PJs are for a special trip and, despite laughing at the fact that women there are parading around in the baking heat covered in polar bears, somehow it works far better for these women than those pushing their trolleys around Tesco in Wales.

There is an element of pride in the Cambodians' outfit. It is nothing to do with being too "busy" or "lazy" to find some clothes. For some, wearing PJs may have to do with cost, cheaper than traditional Cambodian silk wear.

Perhaps it is because the women of Cardiff are not wearing the right footwear with their PJs furry slippers vs plastic high heels and matching earrings or perhaps it is because their tops are not matching their bottoms the Tesco managers have got so distressed?!

It is repeated for different colors until the patterns firm and cloth is woven. Traditionally, five colors are used. Red, yellow, green, blue and black are the most used.

The Sampot Hol is used as a lower garment and as the sampot chang kben. The Pidan Hol is used as a ceremonial hanging used for religious purposes. Sot silk weaving has been an important part of Cambodia's cultural past. Since ancient times, women have learned highly complex methods and intricate patterns, one of which is the hol method. It involves dying patterns on silk before weaving. What remains unique to Cambodian weavers is the uneven twill technique, the reason remains unclear why they adopted such an unusual method.

The ancient bas-reliefs however provides a complete look at how fabrics were like, down to patterns and pleats. Silk woven pieces are used as heirlooms, in weddings and funerals, and as decoration in temples. The sampot is the national garment of Cambodia. The traditional dress is similar to those worn in the neighboring countries of Laos and Thailand, but variations do exist between the countries.

The sampot dates back to the Funan era when a Cambodian king allegedly ordered the people of his kingdom to wear the sampot at the request of Chinese envoys. There are many variations for the sampot, each is washed according to social class. The typical sampot, known also as the sarong is typically worn by men and women of lower class.

It measures approximately one and a half meters and both ends are sewn together. It is tied to safely secure it on the waist. Beneath the warm Cambodian sun, a person's productivity relies heavily upon the suitability of one's dress. Since little is accomplished in blisteringly hot clothes, Khmer people for generations have tied kromas around their waists to work and play in cool comfort. The Khmer scarf, woven from cotton or silk, has been a fashion staple since Ancient times.

While some claim the thin cloth, wrapped around one's head or neck, is used primarily to wipe the sweat from a hot face, others say wearing a kroma is as 'Khmer' as wearing a necktie is American.

It is not clear when exactly the kroma hit the streets, but it has been a symbol of the Khmer kingdom and its people ever since. She said the demands of discerning customers have compelled her to prepare her loom with greater care in order to meticulously spin the cotton thread into a bobbin.

Stilts Overview The Black winged Stilt is essentially a marsh bird, well-equipped for obtaining its livelihood in shallow water. On the ground the bird walks and runs well and gracefully, and it can also swim creditably on occasion. The flight is weak and napping. The diet of the black-winged stilt is variable according to season, but typically comprises aquatic insects, molluscs, crustaceans, spiders, worms, tadpoles, small fish, fish eggs and seeds.

During breeding, parental investment is high from both male and female birds, with males devoting a significant amount of time to nest building and egg incubation.

When alarmed and flying off, the birds utter a rather squeaky piping chek-chek-chek note. The Nesting season is principally between April and August. Stilts nest in colonies, often of several hundred individuals. The nest is a hollow or depression in the ground about the margin.

Of a jheel, or a raised platform of kankar in shallow salt-pans, lined with vegetable scum off the water, grass, or such other odds and ends as can be procured. The mated pairs strongly defend their individual territories. The nest may be anything from a simple shallow scrape on the ground to a mound of vegetation placed in or near the water.

Eggs , light drab, blotched with black. Incubation period is between 23 to 26 days. Both sexes incubate the eggs and look after the young. Marchant, and T. Shorebirds: An Identification Guide. How do I fix my atomizer? What does it mean when my mod says check atomizer? Why is my RPM 2 leaking? How do you fix a short atomizer? How to fix an "Atomizer short" warning:. Place batteries on an external charger to ensure they're both charging properly. How do you clean an atomizer? How do you fix atomizer low on Istick?

Here is a checklist of things to do:. Take the atomizer off of the mod. Can you Unflood a coil? Why does my vape hiss? What wattage should I vape at? Why does my vape burn my throat? Where do O rings go on vape? How do you unclog a disposable vape pen? Why is my T18 leaking? Can you recharge Hydes? What is a connector? What does shorted mean on Yocan? As anti-spitback and anti-leaking measures become more widespread, we may be entering a new age of vaping. If the tech keeps progressing, problems like these might become a thing of the past someday.

I just hit my first RTA , set it up with all of my knowledge at this point but switched back to my crown 4 tank after a few hits because of hot spitback! Thank you for the great tips on solving this issue! I will try a few of your solutions and see what I can figure out!? Thanks so much you saved me… Though I broke my new first ever pod but it was a simple fix of cleaning the air vents.

Popping and spitting are same as before. I lowered the wattage to 30 and increase the wattage till 55 wat. Increase and decrease airflow but still the same kindly advise. Hey Mohammad, sorry to hear that. Is it a very sweet juice? E-juice with a lot of sweetener can also be the problem.

My suggestion is to start over with a fresh coil and a different e-juice. You can also try playing with higher wattage because it might not be enough power to vaporize all of the liquid, which could be causing the issue. Best of luck. Just bought smok nord kit. We are using it with no nicotine and got thinner juice. We drive a semi truck all over the country.

High altitudes have caused leaks. Any suggestions on these doing what all other ones have done. Altitude can have a significant effect on e-juice viscosity and wicking. The only thing I can suggest is to keep your tank empty when you are in these conditions. You can try a thicker e-juice next time, and hopefully that will solve this issue. Great article, Dave. Keep up the great work and thanks for everything you do…. Thank you ThrashSydney! That means a lot.

The main purpose of these types of articles is to help people like you. Cheers and vape on! If the leaking persists, try a different coil. Another common leak culprit. If O-rings become damaged or fall off entirely, it will compromise the air seal on your device. The good news is that O-rings are cheap and easy to replace.

Replacement parts in general are not hard to come by for most devices. But many leaks are the result of improper usage. You can prevent or fix leaks by following some simple tricks. Your vape device is pressurized to a certain extent, and if you leave it uncapped for too long, e-juice will begin to leak out.

Chimney refers to your central airflow tube. If your airflow is mostly closed off, it will feel more restricted as you pull through it, and you must puff more gently on it. If you puff too hard, it will cause the tank to flood. Another sign of a flooded tank is gurgling when puffing through it, which can also cause e-liquid to spit into your mouth. The easiest way to fix this is to open up the airflow more. Make sure you know what settings your atomizer can handle, as each atomizer is rated for different settings.

Thankfully if you take the atomizer out of your tank, this information is usually written on the side of the atomizer. All atomizers are different, so make sure you find out what your atomizer works best at.

If your tank does not have adjustable airflow, and you do not have an adjustable battery, you will have to puff more gently. This is the advantage of choosing a device and tank with adjustable settings. While they may seem more intimidating at the start to new vapers, they have many advantages that can improve your experience.

In a nutshell, more open air flow means a more airy draw that you must puff harder on to keep the atomizer saturated.

They appreciate the safety net of their welfare state, the way most things function well in their country, and all the free time they have, but they tend to approach the subject of their much-vaunted happiness like the victims of a practical joke waiting to discover who the perpetrator is.

The happiness argument does come in handy sometimes, I guess. It might put a burden on you to help me.

And because our expectations are so extremely low at the beginning of the year, they tend to get met more easily. Low expectations? It is true that, when asked how they expect the next year to pan out, the Danes do typically expect less than the rest of us, and when their low expectations are fulfilled, so are they.

Perhaps Danish happiness is not really happiness at all, but something much more valuable and durable: contentedness, being satisfied with your lot, low-level needs being met, higher expectations being kept in check. It is a thin line indeed between relaxed and smug. The Danes do have a remarkably relaxed approach to life, which, I admit, I have sometimes interpreted as immense self-satisfaction, but they do have a great deal to teach us about not taking life too seriously.

According to much of the prevailing anthropological, political, social, and economic thought, the Gini Coefficient—a statistical method for analyzing the distribution of wealth in a nation—is the silver bullet that goes directly to the heart of not just how equal a society is, but how happy and healthy its people are likely to be.

It is, if you like, the very sum of human happiness. I asked epidemiologist Richard Wilkinson, the author of The Spirit Level: Why Equality is Better for Everyone , if he thought there might perhaps be any downsides to the low Gini countries.

All those lists of the best cities to live in are always made up of places with clean streets, cycle paths, and touring productions of Phantom of the Opera , like Bern or Toronto; it is never the really scintillating, stimulating places like New York or Barcelona. As soon as I asked the question, though, I realized that, compared with the social ills examined in The Spirit Level — crime, teenage pregnancy, obesity, cancer, and suicide—a lack of decent street food and interesting graffiti were hardly serious complaints.

A surprising number of Danes agree with me, though: They also think their homeland is stultifyingly dull. We wear the same clothes, shop in the same places, see the same TV, and struggle to know who to vote for because the parties are so alike.

We are purchasing quality of life. If you lose a job in Denmark, it's not necessarily a big deal. In fact, unemployment is built into the system. Thanks to something called the "flexicurity model," employers in Denmark have a lot more freedom to fire employees because there are government programs to retrain workers and better position them for the job market.

Russell says that strong unions also provide a guaranteed safety net, giving unemployment benefits for up to two years. Denmark also has one of the most generous retirement systems in the world, providing for the plus population through a combination of a state-funded pension and private, employer-funded pension programs. Again, when you're not constantly worried about how you're going to afford your retirement, you're going to feel less anxious and more secure.

In other words, happier. If Danes worked all 52 weeks a year, that would average out to only 27 hours a week, but since most Danish employers offer at least five weeks of paid vacation, Russell says that the real number is closer to 33 hours a week. Still, 33 hours a week? On the topic of parental leave, Denmark again has one of the most generous policies in the world. The government requires all employers to offer up to 52 weeks of leave — for either mother or father — and the state provides monetary support for up to 32 weeks.

For all of the time off that Danish workers take, economic productivity doesn't seem to suffer. Russell credits a different workplace culture. Danes don't waste time at the office on Facebook," Russell says. There's an unwritten law in Danish culture called Janteloven or "Jante's law," based on a popular satirical novel from the s. The spirit of Janteloven is "don't act like you're better, smarter or richer than anyone else.

Although Janteloven has lost some of its grip in cosmopolitan Copenhagen, Russell says, it's still very much lived by average Danes you might even argue that being "average" is the goal. No one is better than anyone else. Everyone is equal," says Russell, adding that you don't see even wealthy Danes driving fancy cars or living in ostentatious houses.

Not only are there fewer outward signs of success or struggle, but failure in Denmark isn't a four-letter word, Russell says. Some experts wonder whether Danes are under too much pressure to show the rest of the world how to live. Scandification explores and celebrates the magic of Scandinavia. Since cotton can be woven or knitted into different weights, thicknesses and has a natural ability to breathe, it is the better fabric here.

Nylon is typically found in tougher or more water resistant fabrics like the ballistic nylon in tactical vests or the nylon packcloth in banner signs. Note that expected write speed will not be available by a combination of different class symbols between host and card such as Host Class 10 and Card U1, Host U1 and Card V10, etc. By repeating deletion and write of files, data area is gradually fragmented and it influences write speed. Generally, write speed to a fragmented area is slower than sequential write speed due to flash memory characteristics. In an era when memory capacity is not large enough, fragmented write needed to be considered.

It makes Speed Class controls of host easy. On the other hand, even unused memory exists in total, there is a possibility that host cannot perform Speed Class recording. In that case, data arrangement to reduce fragmented area or move data to anther storage to re-format the card will be required. This increase in speed sets SD Class 10 cards apart from the standard Class 4 cards.

Write speed determines the speed at which your digital information, such as a photo, is stored onto the memory card. Increased speed is needed for modern devices like smartphones, cameras, and computer tablets capturing high-quality digital information. There is a standard labeling system used by memory card manufacturers that designates each card by speed class — 2, 4, 6, or 10 — and storage size in gigabytes GB.

These numbers will be displayed on the label of each memory card. The key to knowing which card to use is determined by these two factors: how you will use the card and which card is best compatible with your digital device. For example, a Class 4, 8 GB card will disappoint while video recording a four-hour lecture compared to a Class 10, GB card.

Even the everyday consumer faces challenges with enough memory storage taking photos or recording casual video. This type of digital data requires memory cards that can provide more than average storage capacity. Class 10 memory cards have storage ranging from 4 GB to GB. Class 10 cards can handle high-resolution HD video recording and many hours of video depending on the card size. Professionals lean on these high-end cards while consumers can take advantage of these cards without breaking the bank.

Along with the storage needs comes the need for data writing speed and replay speed. Class 10 cards can write data into storage and recover or replay that data faster than average SD cards.

A high data transfer speed like that of a Class 10 SD card is ideal for modern devices, so you can easily show your friends and coworkers what you captured. There are official Nintendo-branded Switch micro SD cards doing the rounds, but they're bloomin' expensive, so here's our pick of the best SD cards for your Nintendo Switch.

Here's our top picks! The miniSD card never gained much traction, however, so devices that use it are relatively uncommon. Often, miniSD cards will come with an adaptor that can convert it into a full-size SD card, which makes it easier to use with laptop card readers. The microSD is the smallest version. You might have also seen it referred to as TransFlash or abbreviated as a TF card. MicroSD cards, as the name implies, are physically tiny and came about predominantly to be used in smartphones that would benefit from a much smaller card.

The next area of confusion is around speed classes. High-resolution and high bit rate video requires a lot of data to be written to the card very quickly. Stills cameras with high resolutions and fast burst shooting will also take modern cards to their limits. The SD Association devised a way to standardise the speed ratings for different cards. Many SD card manufacturers will also list a specific speed alongside the Class rating.

So in this case x 0. On any type of SD card, the Class rating is denoted by a number inside of a C symbol.

Abstract Background Injuries in association football soccer are debilitating for players and can also be detrimental to the success of a team or club.

Methods Quantitative data were collected from players across the globe to address the aim of this study. Results Ninety-one percent of players believed the type or condition of a surface could increase injury risk. Conclusions The results identified three areas where future research should be focussed to help develop surfaces that alleviate user concerns and meet user i. Background Injuries in association football soccer are debilitating for the player affected but also have a wider impact on team performances and morale and place substantial financial burdens on clubs [ 1 ].

Methods All study activities involving human participants were in accordance with the ethical standards of the institutional ethics committee and with the principles of the Helsinki Declaration. However, although it has been already shown that injury prevention strategies can be successfully promoted among team coaches and physiotherapists [ 17 , 18 ] it is still unknown whether and which of these effective measures are generally accepted and regularly used in professional and youth football.

The compliance of the athlete with the preventive measure seems to be a key factor for the successful implementation of effective strategies in sports practice [ 19 , 20 ]. Soligard et al. Therefore, it seems problematic that various studies or reviews reported a poor compliance with injury prevention measures such as neuromuscular training or regular bracing [ 16 , 21 — 23 ]. As a consequence, a primary focus of future injury prevention strategies should be on improving compliance among the athletes to truly effective measures during competition and football practice.

However, to our knowledge, no study previously collected data on individual beliefs and adopted strategies of injury prevention among football athletes.

It is therefore unknown whether and to what extent evidence-based measures have been already adopted by professional or recreational players. The objective of this study was to collect first data on perceptions on injury mechanisms, risk factors and preventive measures as well as effectively used strategies during practice and competition among professional and youth football players.

The study, a cross-sectional survey of among professional and youth football players in one German high-level football club, conducted in June was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences of the University of Jena protocol no.

Active players of the professional team Bundesliga, second division during the time of the survey and youth teams U, U, U, U and U of one German football club were asked to participate.

Although there were also U, U and U teams in the participating football club, inclusion was restricted to the U due to the experience with injuries and preventive measures.

No exclusion criteria were defined regarding injury status, playing positions, or performance level. The anonymous survey was conducted before the start of preseason practice by a researcher not involved in the training routines or medical practice. The questionnaire was distributed and collected by the researcher on the same day.

A statement at the title page of the questionnaire included information regarding the study purpose and the anonymity of responses. The response to the survey was assumed to indicate the informed consent of the athletes.

Due to the fact that minors were involved, parental consent for participation was obtained by the coaches. The questionnaire was developed according to the current evidence of injury prevention [ 11 , 12 , 15 , 16 , 23 ] as well as established theoretical models [ 24 — 27 ].

It included three categories with 10 questions to be answered. In agreement with the stages of the injury sequence model of van Mechelen [ 24 ] we collected data on the injury history, perceived risk factors, and believes and practices regarding preventive measures. Question generation was based on a literature review and valuable discussions with experts.

Questions were presented in a language appropriate for athletes in the adolescence and young adult age. Each category of interest had single questions with a dichotomous response yes or no. The questionnaire was pilot-tested in three local non-professional football teams. Results from these teams indicated that the majority of participants understood the questions and response options.

The second part contained questions on history of injuries. Participants were asked to report each injury of the foot, ankle, knee, hip, thigh and groin that ever occurred during football practice or game with regard to the year, kind, leg side, estimated time loss and circumstances with or without contact, game or practice. The time loss was divided into the following categories: 1—6 days minor , 7—27 days moderate and more than 28 days severe.

Descriptive statistics were used to evaluate demographic data. SPSS version Overall, 24 professional and youth players participated in this survey. All returned questionnaires were analyzed. The age of respondents ranged between 13 and 35 years. A detailed description of the participants is given in Table 1. More than two third of professional players experienced an injury at the ankle joint.

Out of all respondents, Only few players considered physical condition deficits 2. All three factors were rated higher by previously injured players than by those without injuries. The majority of respondents consider injury prevention important or very important Table 4. Answers differed not between teams or players of different injury status. Rates were not different between teams and injured vs. About half of all respondents External measures used regularly by players are taping Both measures are more frequently used by players with previous injuries.

Nevertheless, some players that never experienced lower extremity injuries reported regularly to use taping This survey presents data on injury rates and current perceptions regarding injury risk factors as well as information regarding prevention strategies used in football.

It describes subsequent stages starting with the relevance of the problem in terms of incidence followed by risk factor identification and the use as well as assessment of preventive measures. Answers on specific risk factors and preventive strategies were built upon current evidence [ 11 , 12 , 15 , 16 , 23 ], theoretical models [ 26 — 29 ] and expert beliefs.

However, while pilot tested, discussed with experts and adjusted accordingly, the developed questionnaire was used for the first time in this study. Therefore, we cannot fully exclude potential confounding factors and results should be considered hypothesis-generating. The self-reported history of lower extremity injuries among respondents showed that at least two-thirds of football players of age 13 and above previously experienced an acute injury during practice or play.

Yarbrough said students who attend HBCUs learn the importance of professionalism and can cultivate networking opportunities that they can use upon graduating. She believes that HBCUs are becoming a dying species. Davis believes that the world is changing, and that people should not narrow their experience and slow down their progression to the outside world. Several articles and headlines have been written questioning the importance of these institutions and the value of an HBCU degree.

On the other hand, Wimberly says that the choice to attend an HBCU depends on the values of the student. GSU may have more resources, she says, but they have different funding, different missions, and different reasons for existing.

Some resources are not necessary for a quality education, Wimberly said. She said that Morehouse University and Howard University produce 70 percent of the African-American positions in the country even though all schools in the country allow blacks to go to medical school.

She believes the problem that is happening at several HBCUs is connected to the administrative or governance perspective of the institutions.

Sydney Warner, senior at Savannah State, says that she does believe that HBCUs are relevant and that there is no better time to be around a learning atmosphere that blacks share with common goals. Warner said that if she would not have left GSU and crossed over to an HBCU she would not be in the major she is in now nor would she have the confidence that she currently has.

Warner also says that the reason that there is a narrative that HBCUs are not relevant is because of the time period. He said if you attend Savannah State University or even Morehouse College, people will look as if you attend a high school. Morris Brown used to enroll over 2, students. In , the university lost its accreditation. According to the Journal of Blacks in Higher Education, the loss of accreditation meant that students at Morris Brown College were no longer qualified for federal financial aid.

Ever since then, the college has struggled to remain open. In , the college filed for bankruptcy. Currently, an estimate of around 40 students are enrolled, according to an article about the current Interim President, Kevin James. Several schools are dealing with a huge level of debt, declining enrollment, and their ability to stay relevant while competing in a super competitive environment for the top African American students. The offices of Academic Affairs, Admissions and Recruitments, Alumni Affairs, and the Office of the President were all contacted for interviews about the progression of Morris Brown College since their loss of accreditation, plans to move forward, and input on HBCU relevancy.

Unfortunately, none of the offices were available to comment. Wimberly wants HBCUs to be able to encourage the youth to become an active part of the environment and take over. She said staff and faculty tend to stay at an HBCU, which can also make change difficult.

Department of Education, there were 37, African Americans serving in full-time faculty positions at colleges and universities in the U. This means almost three out of every four students are non-Caucasian. Thirteen schools had a diversity index of 0. Change has also come to HBCUs, where white student enrollment is on the rise. Joshua Packwood made national news last May when he became the first white valedictorian at historically black Morehouse College. Increasing numbers of non-black students report being drawn to HBCUs for their unique educational offerings, and for the opportunity to obtain a rich cultural experience, at an affordable price.

In the absence of formal consolidation, a natural merging of students appears to be underway. This may in part be due to expanded diversity efforts. HBCUs and traditionally white institutions alike are increasingly creating diversity committees and bumping up initiatives to foster an inclusive environment with a diverse student population.

Dean Raymond Pierce, Chance D. Lynch, Joyvan Malbon, Willie J. White, Stacy Maynor, William C. The lines may be blurring, but will eliminating HBCUs be a disservice to the people they were intended to help? HBCU supporters posit that these schools are vital to the successful integration of African Americans into the corporate, research, academic, and government arenas. Cox, president and chief executive officer of Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. But more importantly, black students graduate at a much higher rate than their counterparts at predominately white institutions.

Graduates of HBCUs represent a significant portion of successful professionals both domestically and internationally. Further, nine of the top ten colleges that graduate the most African Americans who go on to earn a Ph. As a comparison point, the top 10 predominantly white institutions, or PWIs, had retention rates that ranged from The campus culture and student-centric programs at these PWIs are stellar but it also stands to reason that the students attending top PWIs, like Brown University and the University of Notre Dame, are predisposed to staying in college anyway — while HBCUs have many more obstacles to overcome when convincing and encouraging their attendees to stay.

Many HBCUs are powerhouses when it comes to offering strong degree programs in science, technology, engineering and math. Spelman College is the second largest school in the nation that sends Black undergraduates on to medical school. Claflin University students work alongside the South Carolina Center for Biotechnology and receive hands-on industry training and connections in the field long before graduation. Xavier University of Louisiana has a consistently top-ranked pharmacy program and is a sought out school for those hoping to advance to medical school.

The advancements these schools are contributing to STEM fields are not just relevant, they are groundbreaking and an asset to the industries the graduates eventually serve. They make college more affordable. As college costs climb, HBCUs remain reasonable options for earning college degrees and come with plenty of financial aid options in the form of grants, scholarships and federal loans. The financial assistance programs at HBCUs have an inherent understanding that their students come from a place where college may not be an option without sound advice and financial assistance — and they step up to meet the needs of those students.

They adequately staff the workforce — and help graduates land jobs. During the latest Recession years, college career centers faced even greater scrutiny when it comes to helping students find jobs when they leave campus. The state of unemployed college graduates reached nearly crisis proportions at one point, with college graduates returning home to live with their parents after receiving a degree.

HBCUs stepped up and worked even harder to help their graduates find the work they were qualified to accomplish after graduation. The HBCU Career Center Survey found that over 90 percent of HBCUs offered career workshops, career counseling, one-on-one resume writing help, one-on-one interview coaching, on-campus job fairs and on-campus interviews from prospective employers. Nearly three-fourths of the HBCUs in the survey said they also offered career development services for alumni.

HBCUs are not simply training their students and sending them off blindly into their future careers; these schools are supplying well-equipped, highly-educated workforce members through connection programs that happen long before graduation day.

The challenge is turning the fastener and stretching the bolt to a tension suitable to withstand the forces that the bolted joint is subjected to in a controlled assembly environment. Materials change. The condition of the materials change. Different joints not only have different torque requirements they also different aspects of relative importance to safety. Think about safety-critical joints. By using torque plus angle, we use torque as a way to measure the snug point of the fastener.

Snug is the point where all additional rotation results in bolt stretch or tension. Now by switching to measuring the rotation, or angle, we can turn the fastener an appropriate number of degrees to achieve the desired bolt stretch. Despite uncontrollable, often erratic, influences on the torque measurement, torque and angle are significantly more accurate. That increase in accuracy comes from knowing the fastener materials, thread pitch, and the nature of the fastener, blind hole, through-hole, etc.

With thread pitch, you know how far the faster will travel based on the number of degrees it is rotated. The definition of torque angle is probably what you expect it would be.

Torque is a way to measure force. Specifically, it is how much force it takes to turn an object. Torque is commonly used when describing tools or mechanics in terms of how much torque would be needed to turn a bolt on a machine. An angle is a mathematical term used to describe the shape made when two lines diverge from a common point. The arch created is the torque angle. Many industries like infrastructure, wind, heavy engineering, etc.

The use of torque and angle method reduces the variations of bolt load distribution in the bolts of a joint. To implement this method with a hydraulic torque wrench or pump that does not support torque and angle measurement can be tedious for the operator.

Bolting tools or pumps that measure torque and angle eliminate the need for an operator to use an angle gauge or protractor together with the torque wrench. As these technologies offer faster and accurate results for traceability, control, and process monitoring, it is advised to opt for such modern technologies to enhance efficiency onsite.

As this feature was only restricted to bolting tools like battery or DC electric torque wrenches, the introduction of HYTORC Vector pump allowed industries using a hydraulic torque wrench to also benefit from the feature. As industries like wind and infrastructure are the most avid users of torque and angle, we recommend using battery operated tools like HYTORC Lithium Series II that offer maximum portability while working on heights that also features the torque angle measurement capability.

It offers advanced bolting options like Turn Angle for Turn-Of-Nut tightening method , Torque Check determining if a nut meets its specification , Rotation turns a fastener a specific number of rotations. Offering a convenient and faster solution to measure torque angle, the tool has been popular among the infrastructure and wind industry majors.
