Eden project how long to spend
We usually take a picnic lunch with us in a back pack. The food on offer at Eden looks delicious, but it would really put up the price of the visit for us. We take water bottles as there are plenty of places to refill them, and we also take snacks and coffee. We usually stop for nice drinks and ice cream at some point during the visit. Clothing wise, my advice would be to wear trainers or something comfy on your feet as you will be doing a lot of walking.
Also, wear layers and probably not jeans as it is really hot and humid in the biomes. Jeans end up getting really heavy and sticking to your legs.
We usually take lightweight macs too in case it rains - it would be a shame to miss out of the outdoor side of things. There are plenty of tables and chairs to sit and picnic at, so you don't need to take a rug or chairs. At the moment you can eat in a huge indoor picnic area they have set up by the stage. We didn't use it but we would have done if it had rained. We have visited Eden quite a few times over the years, but we always seem to spend about 5 or 6 hours there.
We could stay longer as we never manage to do everything, but having young children and older legs, 6 hours is about our limit. We seem to be able to fit in either 2 Biomes, or 1 Biome plus the Core education centre.
Our visit always includes lunch, sit down snacks, a play in the park and a big browse round the shop at the end. The Outside Garden. There is a lovely zigzag walk down through the gardens to the main stage and biomes.
This is a lovely walk to do and pre-covid you could catch a little tractor train. The outside gardens are stunning and include a veg and herb garden. The Rainforest Biome. This is where we usually spend most of our time. It is a hot, humid and wonderful place with amazing plants, little buildings, lots of educational things, waterfalls, a very high wobbly rainforest canopy brige to cross and some very cute little birds running around the place.
The Mediterranean Biome. This is a much gentler place to visit and, when you haven't got a mask on, it smells of Greece, with all the warmth and herbs! When we visited this time, there were musicians playing - how fabulous to listen to live music again! There is a cafe that serves impressive gins other drinks and food are available. The Core. We haven't been in here for a while, but there are usually lots of educational things to see and learn about. The Giant Bee. I think this is my favourite part of the outside garden.
We were both rather diappointed with the Eden Project and neither of us could really decide what it was for. I would describe it as a very nice garden centre for tourists.
If you are already reasonably eco-minded, there is not much new to learn there. If wondering around looking at plants like you do in the garden centre is your thing, give yourself a couple of hours. I could only stand the rain forest for about 30 minutes too hot and the med one was a bit dull. Both were excellent in my view and much more worth while than the Eden Project. MJH 14 Jul In reply to Terry There is plenty to see - I would give yourself the afternoon particularly if the weather is nice.
In reply to Terry I probably did spend 5 hours there, but I'm a bit of a nerd. Tropical dome is very hot, though. If I'm honest, I prefer Heligan. I could spend 5 hours looking at their ram pumps. In reply to Terry Shunting it off is not really an option My girlfriend is very keen on seeing it and hence why she bought me Kooks tickets there, when we live in London.
Will probably drive down saturday morning, 5 hours in traffic? Look around for 5 hours! Then as aching feet and lower back sets in time for The Kooks Ashley 14 Jul In reply to Terry Took myself and the missus about 5 or 6 hours. Make sure you look out for the 'sensitive plant' as you're wandering round, when you find it poke it and see what happens. We're open most days of the year except December, when our staff get a well earned Christmas break, and some days in January and February when we undertake staff training. Occasionally we have to close the Rainforest Biome early, to give our plants a special treatment that keeps them healthy — you'll be able to see this on our opening times page.
The busiest days at Eden tend to be school holidays and rainy mid-week days. But even in these periods, you can always find a quiet spot to enjoy Eden — take a look at what's here on our map , to see the full range of garden and sculpture displays you can find at Eden. Because Eden's plants and exhibits change throughout the seasons and year on year, you could spend a good three to four hours visiting, even if you've been before.
Your ticket is valid from your reserved entry slot right up until closing time, so you can stop for as many cups of tea as you'd like. You could also stagger your visit over several days, if you book yourself time slots head, as our Annual Pass gives you unlimited entry to Eden for a whole year from the selected date. Most of Eden's garden displays are outdoors.
Don't forget your suncream on hot days; you can still get sunburnt through the Biomes. Find out about visiting Eden in all weathers. All toilet buildings have unisex baby changing facilities.
